"Looks Like We Made It" - Goodbye 2001
Dear Ballpoint, and Dear Michael,
Well, exactly 365 days after we
set about this task, tonight it comes to a very thought provoking end,
and it really is a case of
"Looks Like We Made It" because
365 days later, here we are at the final Thought For The Day 2001.
A year of so many memories, both
of wonderful happiness and tragically some of immense sadness, but to Michael
and to Ballpoint who have lead us through this incredible year thats been
2001 we owe a very big thankyou and should say to you both
"You're Still The One".
And so 1 year later, a whole 12 months later, all of those 365 days later, many concerts later, and many adventures later, there is not a single word ever written that will sum up what we need to say here so in its most simple but heart felt expression
THANKYOU!
Whatever the New Year brings we are taking the memories of 2001, and the people of 2001 captured in our special thoughts each day and who made it so special for so many reasons, with us into 2002.
If we tried to write a review today of the year that was, there is none more fitting than the memories captured in Thought For The Day 2001.
A true journal of love and friendship that travelled the world in a daily journey through this special Fan Family that Michael and Ballpoint made possible.
Thank you for the music, the inspiration,
the strength and when we needed it the courage, and thank you for giving
so much of your selves to make so many people so very much part of something
that makes our world a better place.

Thought For The Day 358 Christmas Eve 2001
I am writing this a few minutes before midnight, as Christmas approaches you can picture so many things, children sleeping who will be hurriedly waking up in a few hours time, even in the distant vision of time the scene from Bethlehem, the three wise men arriving on their camels with their three gifts.
If we could unite tonight to bring one gift, I will wish for everyone to be happy, there is so much to be grateful and happy for even in any sadness that has clouded the year, and for no one to be lonely or sad because in this family you are never alone, a friend is always with you, and for no one to be missing someone we wanted here this Christmas, lets find that believe that absent friends are with us tonight in our heart.
However and whereever we are right now, Happy Christmas to this special Family.

There are two days in every week we should never worry about, two days that should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

G'day from Aussie Country I have just arrived home from work and I came across this today, I thought it said something about 'us'
Something starts from a tiny idea in the untapped brain of an unknown genius that will turn into something so gigantic it will overtake the world - - -
I read that in a magazine today, it was talking about business ideas that grew from tiny little seeds of ideas, and I think when you use it as the idea that came from Mission Control to create our fanbase, and all the thousands of people all over the world it involves, its a perfect coincidence
I also especially liked it because it followed on from Beth's thought yesterday
And I liked it even more because it also applies to Michael our main man himself, the ideas from his beautiful heart mind boday and soul really did grow into something that took in all the world

here tonight reading the new reviews, I thought about Peta in China who
wrote today, and then of Caitlin right on the very other side of the world
to me then I had to go to revisit World Michael Day to remind myself we
really do have family in all those countries all over the world, what a
special place!
I also realise as I am going to

Dear Friends
I have not written one of these in a long long time, but I've been watching this forum over this last week, through a week that will probably be the saddest after the loss of Carrie, and Amy's friends, and also the circumstances that resulted in American friends not being able to travel to the concerts this week, and I have really sat back and thought through it all, just how unique and special this family is.
It's a blessing, just like Michael.
I'd just like to say to everyone that I'm proud of what we have here and I count my own blessings to be part of such a special place.
I agree with so many of the recents thoughts, and the biggest thank you in the world from us all has to go unreservedly to Michael and Ballpoint for seeing us through , because they are the ones who make this all possible.

Some of Michael's words today in the Radio 2 interview, just echo again, after his beautiful 'letter to America', what a lovely kind caring and understanding person he is.
And even the interviewer understood the power of Michael's music and the lyrics, I think Michael and our Family give not only the strength and soladarity Michael spoke of, but also something that makes us feel safe.
As we've agreed over the last week, if there's something you want to say, say it now, so I just want to say I hope Michael will always know how strongly he is loved, not because he's a celebrity but because he's a special and irreplaceable person.

It seems hard to believe it is 260 days since our Thoughts started, there have been so many reasons this year will stay with us forever.
It's also a special day, Monday 17th September, because it's Michael's new album, and its the opening night at The Donmar Diva's.
Centre Stage couldn't have come at a apt moment as Michael opened his solo show and the spotlight falls firmly centre stage on Michael.
Michael said a few weeks ago, he wondered if the show would have legs, I hope everyone loves it, and it has legs to walk and then run away
And the album, that will soar, it is beautiful.

I was lucky and saw Michael yesterday at Chelmsford, it was a really special day and something I will never forget being part of, I would like to say that todays thought should be that Michael has the ability to make even the most cold and damp days disappear under his own cloud of magic.
He really chased the blues away from a wet and cold day yesterday and it was amazing seeing all the people who were willing to sit in the cold and wet all day to be there for the concert, we were told that the performers at the night before didn't even sing and that the weather was nothing like as bad as Michael's concert day, it also makes you think how good and kind and caring Michael is that he would not disappoint the people who all travelled from everywhere to be there.
I just think Michael is really special and I want that to be our thought for today.

I remember exactly 178 days ago, the very first Thought For The Day was posted, and 178 days later, I have been asked to return to consider todays special thought.
If I had a choice tonight I would like to make todays thought as a thank you. A thank you to Michael, for being the beautiful person that he is, and a thank you to Nadia and Angela, to Cat, and Dee and Mark, for bringing today to life and for bringing the world together for Michael.

Todays thought is in memory of Hattie Chilvers who died on May 30th aged 97 and was one of Michael's longest serving fans, she first saw him on stage in 1986.
Hattie's daughter wrote to me with the sad news and I have phoned her daughter to get permission to dedicate todays thought to Hattie but the words were best summed up by something her daughter told me.
She told me that Hattie gave a little speech on her grand daughters wedding day last year and had said that the best things in her long life had been meeting her husband, (who sadly died many years ago) having her daughter, her only child, and having 2 twin grandchildren and then with wonderful humour she finished it by saying, oh and having Michael Ball to sing to me, she regularly played all Michael's music.
It just seems fitting for today's thought.

It is now Monday morning here in Sydney, and it now a few hours since I was at 4 am to share in Michael's tv show Songs of Praise as you have been watching it on Sunday evening.
It's times like these when we can close the gap between all of us.
I have now seen the photos, I have viewed the video clip and an enormous thanks to Mission Control for caring enough to do that for us!
Also thanks to the fan friends who talked us through the show via. the chatroom and tried to make us feel part of what was happening.
Today's thought has to be a quote from Michael's performance today, "Thank God for you, the Wind Beneath My Wings" and it has to be dedicated to Michael himself for being everything we are here for, to everyone at Ballpoint HQ for not only being our International Rescue but for being our link to these special times, and to all the friends we have to share it with.

Hi all
A friend and fan Kathleen has just opened up her birthday cards to find one signed by Michael.
I really wonder if Michael realises just how much happiness he can give someone out of something what may seem as simple as signing a birthday card.
It also makes me think about what
a very lovely man Michael is,
he must get so many requests like
her husband's to sign a card or give a signature, and yet I've never known
anyone be let down or say when they've approached him personally after
a show or something for the people lucky enough to have met him, that he
has ever seemed tired or pained to keep signing for us.

a quite new fan having only been
here a couple of weeks but I love everything I've seen, I would like to
suggest a thought for today as a thanks for this fanclub here.
Without Michael and without the
Ballpoint workers who keep this fanbase going, there would have never been
a chance for me to come here and get to interact with any of you who are
reading this so I want to make todays thought the fact we're so lucky and
have so much to thank Michael and Ballpoint for.
Being a fan is not the same when
you are on your own and have noone to share your excitement with, that's
what makes this site so great, because it brings 1 fan in touch with another
fan and so creates a group of fans, and it's just the best, I've never
seen another fanbase and fanclub so good as this so thanks.

Having been computerless for a whole 5 days I have had serious withdrawal symptoms from Ballpoint and Michael, I really felt lonely
I think it makes you stop and realise how big a part of our lives Michael and Ballpoint are, being without the access to the website and keeping in touch with all our friends here on the forum really gets you down and you miss it seriously after a while.
We really are very lucky people to have what we have here, it's only when you lose something you stop and realise how special it is.

Dear Michael, and Dear Ballpoint,
I am both a little sad, and also very happy and proud, as I write this review of a very special year, because it means the year is fading, and will soon be past, and we will step into the new hours of another new beginning year, but is also something special to remember fondly for always.
But! Before we can say a very fond goodbye to The Millennium Year 2000 and place it in our special corners of our hearts reserved for the memories that we can never forget, there are a few special moments to recall, and a few special thankyou's to be spoken.
In special thanks to Michael, who is the reason any of us are here enjoying this special family at all, for Michael's talents of the past year that began with his triumph of Kuala Lumpar this very day one year ago, for the magic he brought to Malaysia on that Millennium eve, and for starting a Millennium Year that we would never forget.
For Michael for the treasured memories of the Year 2000, the laughs and entertainment, the beautiful music, the time and places that now make up our memories, from Chippenham, to Birmingham, to Edinburgh, as we shared the Spring of 2000.

For Michael for the excitement and adventure of a Summer that brought us new beginnings and new friends for our Family from the shores of a very welcoming America, Michael may have been 4000 miles away from home in England, but he set off with the love and hopes and dreams of all of us, and came safely home with new friends for us to all learn to love and share our Family with.
For Michael for the special night of the Cafe de Paris, one special night that was captured for a lifetime and forever.
For Michael for the Tour 2000, it's thrills, it's perfection, and for the surprise of being not only "This Time It's Personal", but This Time It's The Best, the one part Michael so modestly forgot to share with us all!
